Pay or Contest Sumner County Tickets
Payment choices depend on the issuing court. Wellington Municipal Court warns that not all violations may be paid online, some require an appearance or payment to the clerk, and refunds are not issued when the amount paid is wrong. A citation may not be available online for 7 to 10 days after issue. The municipal court also states that partial payments are not accepted and phone payments are not accepted.

- Do not pay online if the ticket will be contested, if diversion is being sought, if driver-record consequences are a concern, or if a cash bond was posted.
- For a KHP ticket not found online, contact the county court listed on the citation because KHP does not retain ticket information from sheriff or local police cases.
Important: Wellington Municipal Court states that pleading and paying online may constitute a conviction reported to the Department of Motor Vehicles.

Sumner County Traffic Diversion
The Sumner County Attorney's office handles traffic diversion policy for qualifying matters. The research notes three limits from the county page: cited speed cannot exceed 20 mph, CDL holders are not diversion eligible under Kansas law, and applicants must not have had prior traffic or criminal charges for at least 12 months, subject to listed exclusions.
That means paying a ticket is not the same as asking for diversion.
